Hi all - hope you can help,

Just tried updating lastest software upgrade but TM won't connect. i get a message from the loader saying 'Connect receiver and turn it on', or words to that effect but the receiver is connected and is turned on. I have successfully been able to update in the past and am using the same null modem cable and PC as before.

Any ideas?

i have my tm1500 in standby to patch it and once the software has been written to the flash memory, the receiver should reboot and go back to standby mode.

when you have it connected and the loader program open, is the receiver recognised by clicking on "auto detect" to see if it is on com 1 or com 2 port ?

Hi Wod,

i've been trying with it switched on - should it be in standby?

i've tried the auto detect but it just flicks between com 1 and com 3 but doesn't connect

well i've always left my receiver in standby and patched it, loaded new softcam files etc

this is now i do mine.

with the receiver in standby connect the null modem cable to the receiver and pc

then open the loader program

next click auto detect to detect the receiver under com 1 or com 2

then under the software tab click on browse and point to the receiver patch

then click on connect to send the software patch to the receiver

once the software has been written to the receiver flash memory it will reboot and go back to standby

It doesn't really matter, although standby is usually safer.
If you are using a usb>serial converter, make sure you are using the same port that you usually use.

Hi m8,
goto the device manager on your PC and goto the ports com & lpt.
u should see prolific usb to serial comm port(com?) were the question mark is your comm number. Open DM loader and set the com port to this number and all should be OK.

still no joy

did get support from TM who said to press the connect button and then turn on the receiver using the main switch at the back

this does seems to get the pc to recognise the receiver ie I got the usual message 'version 2.xx deteced when using the darkman loader but nothinh happens after that and the updates don't load.

when i click on cancel i get the message 'download cancelled' as if it was in the download process. i have tried leaving it for an hour but no joy.

the TM still works fine but without any recent updates.

any ideas anyone?

What happens when you click on 'auto detect' ?

Do you have a serial port, or are you using USB to serial?

hi robbo71,

i'm using serial - not usb

when i try auto detect it doesn't find the receiver and clicks between com1 and com3.

both loader and pc are set to com1 but i have tried com3 as well.
