Default Patches - are there risks?

Hi all,
Having got my motorised set up working ok (thanks everybody) I'm getting ready to take the step into patching.
I've read through a lot of stuff which has helped a lot. But my question is this: Is it possible to screw up badly and somehow kill your receiver totally. Or is there always some emergency escape route that will let you recover the situation?
Receiver is a tm1500.
thanks ,
staymour

Patches are unofficial software, that is software not produced by the receiver manufacturers.
The vast majority of technomate 1000 owners have patched their receivers without a problem, and I have not read of any that have messed it up sufficiently to kill it.
Providing you get the correct loader, and patch, for your Technomate 1500, which is the 1000 range, and follow the guides, you should soon be viewing all that is available.
Have a read through the Technomate section, this should make you more confident to go ahead and patch your receiver, and view all the channels available.

thanks Mickha, it's reassuring to know that there have been no reports of 'receiver death' and I'll do as you say and also make some step by step notes, so that mine isn't the first!

It certainly isnt unknown for a flash to go wrong, so you must understand there is a small risk. IF things go bad then you will probably wreck the receiver probably beyond easy salvation.

However, its rare so go ahead with strong nerves and a stiff drink handy for when you finish!!

No - you need steady hands so you dont knock the power cord out of the receiver or the computer, or dislodge the connecting cable!

Occasionally I panic when flashing anything... But I find that leaving it plugged in and waiting is the best course of action. Don't panic and unplug it, thinking it's frozen and everything's wrecked - it might just be in some kind of loop. Patience
