Default HDD capacity for a TM-6800/6900

Hi Guys,

I'm interestedto purchase this equipment, but I'm a little concerned about the capacity of HDD's that can be connected.
Out of experience I know that certain computers have problems with HDD's which have a lot of storage room.

Does anybody know if e.g. a HDD of 500 gb's can be connected to the 6800?

In the product documentation there is nothing on the capacity.

Thx in advance

I've emailed Technomate to see if there is any limit or recommendations on HDD size for the 6*** range

I won't be holding my breath for a reply though - I'm still waiting for a reply to one I sent at the start of the year

Kev

EDIT: I've just read on another site that someone has a 500Gig HDD working on one

Hello...
I'm interested in adding a HDD to a TM6900.

Is there any thoughts on which manufacturer to go for?

I've seen an advert for a 500Gb Maxtor at about £160 - ready to use.
Sounds fairly expensive nowadays??

I'm using a 160gb Western Digital passport HDD and it works a treat

I've read that a 500gb HDD works OK too but obviously haven't tried one myself

Question Re: HDD capacity for a TM-6800/6900

Can anybody please confirm to me that by adding HDD to this receiver will actually record HD material - no problems?

I've tried using a 4Gb memory stick/flash drive with BBC-HD and found it unwatchable.
I'm assuming along the lines of insufficient transfer rates but would like to confirm before adding an external hard drive.

Cheers

I recorded a HD film over Xmas (can't remember what it was) and didn't encounter any problems during playback

I've since added a 500Gb Seagate external HardDiscDrive and can seemingly record HD, no problem. Limited occasions so far but will report back if anything untoward occurs.

Continuing on from where I left off...
For whatever reason, my TM 6900 is having none of this HDD business, anymore!!
It worked initially but not anymore. I was having to unplug/plug-in the usb or power lead to get something to happen but it's far from reliable
I believe it's down to the size of the Hard Drive?
Will maybe have to chalk it down to experience & try less GB??

I ran a 500Gb HDD off my TM6900, and there were teething troubles. Like files couldn't be played back, or disappeared. I moved down to a 120Gb, put the 500Gb on my pc and I don't have any troubles with the lower capacity HDD.

Cheers Marziemcg & Mship,
That'll be my next move when I can afford to buy another HDD. Looking at a previous post I will probably opt for 160GB.
