Default Re-arranging boards

Just to let you know I've been trying to slim down how the boards appear on the homepage.

I've currently moved a lot of the satellite boards into a couple of main sections, to try and free up space.

I've also recoded the subforum display so that they now appear neater, and also updated the icons for these.

Not sure whether it helps the user experience, though, so if you find any probablems using the boards in the restructured form, please do let me know.

ADDED: Just testing to see how it works - easy to roll back - but if the general opinion is that it works fine, I'll also reorganise the computing and other boards similarly to free up more space on the forum index page.

I personally like it the other way round, least then you can actually see when there's new posts in each section of the satellite boards.

Nice idea, but its not very functional for me.

I think that is a much better layout.

As for new posts, just use the new posts option at the top of the page and scan through the subjects you are interested in.

I preferred it as it was too, but the satellite Help section did rather monopolise the forum. So on balance the new layout is better on the whole.

Eeek, looks very cluttered now, hard to see what's what. I initially thought my browser was playing up.

It looks like a nasty attack of traffic lights using the SH skin!

I like the sub-forum idea, but the extra icons are too much on the SH skin. I'd just lose the smaller ones altogether or make them very subtle.

I think the TW skin looks good with the new layout, and this is what I use.

I'll make the icons smaller on the SH skin - and I think I've modified a different forum which allowed for subforums to display in different ways on different themes - if I can find a way to do that here it may work better so members can choose their own version.

Got to admit, while the new set-up for subforums does reduce the need for scrolling,
it may not be easier to find an exact topic. Hmm...
