Default Camping satellite system out of Maplin

Hi guys, new to the forum.

I just purchased this system out of Maplins for our little campervan. We did have Freeview but were struggling to find any channels so thought we'd try this.

Anyway, has any got or used this system? Or one similar? Are they any good? What channels will we pick up? I also read somewere that when camping up the north of Scotland I may struggle to connect to a satelite and pick up any channels. Can anyone shed any light on that?

Any info would be great.

Thanks

Hi,

I have not got the system, but what I can tell you is that it is quite a small dish, and the receiver will only pick up free to air channels.

It would probably only be any use for Astra2(28E), and possibly Hotbird (13E) and Astra1 (19E), plus if you are lucky, a few others.

The further north you go, the bigger the dish you need, but you might be lucky and still get something from 28.2E north of the border.
Have a look at these links, your receiver is capable of receiving all the free to air channels (red F in column 5), depending on whether the dish can actually pick the signals up sufficiently.

Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D at 28.2°E - LyngSat
Astra 1F/1G/1H/1KR/1L at 19.2°E - LyngSat
Hot Bird 6/7A/8 at 13.0°E - LyngSat

I use that system but with a 12v sky box. I find it fine a bit fiddly to line up but apart from that no problems at all. The suction pads arnt that good so I use the clam.
