I was told today at work that a guy who i told about Eurovox and he bought one,he is a member of an other forum. The forum he is on has had 'inside' info from Virgin that after April 2008 they will be upgrading the signal. This is said to brick ALL current cable box's except 1 £200 box the guy never gave the name of.
Is this true ? |

Just another wild rumour. I can see no way that all boxes will be knocked out except for one - that sounds like sales talk to me.

Hi, a newbie here, nice to meet you all. First post from me (names Colin). Been reading the forum for a while though.
I'm about to buy one of the latest eurovox boxes but now have (slight) doubts. Satsmo, excellent post on the other thread, very interesting reading. I appreciate that the ITGATE box isnt guarranteed to be future proof but would it be worth paying an extra £20 (than the eurovox would cost) or so for it in your opinion? Appreciate that NAGRA 2 may not be ever used here in the UK but does the fact that its linux based worth paying a little bit extra for? Until tonight I was convinced the eurovox was the best box to go for! Any advice appreciated, thanks. ps. my knowledge is limited on all this as you can probably guess! The first post quotes a forum as stating that all boxes except one will be knocked out - I said that I can't see that happening.
I did not say that one box will be knocked out!
