Default Are they all different sats

Hi there, Astra 1A, 1B, 1C and so on are they all seperate sats or part of one, do we receive them all if pointed at 28.2E, if they are seperate how do you pick one out?

Cheers

I don't understand Astra 1A,1B, 1C. They are not at the 28E position that's for sure.
Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D at 28.2°E - LyngSat

In fact Lyngsat doesn't list them at all, unless Ive gone blind.

Astra 2A,2B,2C and 2D (and Eurobird 1) are at the 28E position. Yes I think they are separate sats ( Analoguesat will know), but either way it doesn't really matter, because your receiver does not need to tell the difference , since they are all nominally at the same orbital location they will not share the same frequencies
and polarisation. All your receiver needs to do is to tune to the correct transponder frequency, and will pick up channels form whichever satellite they're on.

So basically, if you are aligned to one of them, you are aligned to all, and will pick them all up in the UK, depending on location, weather and dish size.

The Astra 1 sats are located at 19.2 East. There is a cluster of satellites located at each location in the sky but your receiver sees them as one satellite.

As Robbo says, if you have a look at the Lyngsat website you will see how the satellites are grouped.

Astra 1A & 1B went to graveyard orbit long ago. 1C is at 4.6E, although was turned off a few days ago.

You can always rely on Uncle AS to clarify the position.
