Default Traix TD78 3 sat installation kit

Triax 80cm dish with Triax 20 degree bracket, Multi 3 no. LNB kit + 4 way autoswitching.

From what I have found out to install this system you aim the dish at the

Has anybody set one of these systems up feedback, advice and tips would be welcome.

The receiver will switch satellites automatically via the DiSEqC switch:link:
I assume that I can have this in the attic and forget about it.

I use a Triax TD88 with a similar setup for 13/16/19.2 and 28.2E. Nothing much to add from what you've said already aside from ignoring the elevation scale on the dishes, they're always out. Trial and error is the best bet.

The rail is graduated like you say, easy to adjust and tighten with a central screw. You can mount the bar upside down for a larger scale of elevation but for the sats you want you don't need to do that.

As for the DiSEqC switch, mount it near the dish. That way you only need one long cable run, keeping the cabling from the LNB's to the switch as short as possible.

Have fun.

Hey Noikz,
Is it just a matter of sliding the LNBs along the rail for the best signal, or do you have to tilt them, bend the rail or anything like that?

Hey Robbo, yeah they slide along the rail and each LNB holder has its own screw to tighen once in position. The bar itself has it's own screw in the centre so you can tilt the whole thing left or right.

Cheers Noikz
I think a short guide with a couple of piccies written by someone who has set one of these up, would make a nice little sticky in the FAQs section.

There were pictures of such setups on Sathelp; don't know if they've been transported over. One was specifically of a Triax dish. There was also one with my Raven 90 dish. If I am not feeling so knackered over the weekend, I may upload another picture of the Raven - with its 5 LNBs - again.

The pictures used to be on this thread: Triax Multi Pictures Wanted

Can't see them going thru the thread just now, however.

Yes, we still have most of the pictures tucked away but it would take too long to re-upload them all again, especially for the members pictures thread, as there was loads of them, a new one was supposed to have been started.

Edit. I'll go and see if I can find the pictures for that thread

NO.Bu99er!, All pictures in that thread are lost.

Noikz's here though:-
NEW Pictures of members dish/receiver setups please!

Reply from Paul here:

I emailed Eric of satsig from a link on the forum and he provided some good advice regarding multi LNB set ups, which I believe is the correct way to do it Its not the best weather to go on the roof so I will now wait to spring before giving it a go via a TM 5200 to 13E 19E & 28 the instructions below are for the South Wales Location, but I assume they would also apply to most of the uk with some minor tweaks.
If anyone is interesting in setting up a multi LNB system then I'm sure the correspondence below will be of interest to you.
Eric works for satsig and would welcome further emails if you have any further questions and also sent this email to me, which may also be of use to members.

Paul
You are welcome. Please link to page Satellite dish pointing using a multi-LNB dish
They might also be interested in Satellite frequency spectrum display (vertical polarisation only and Ku low band only).
Try to get then to use this page for dish pointing Satellite dish pointing and aiming calculator for UK, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England
If you copy my instructions in the email below, I suggest you say where you are located since the calculated angles vary according to location.
The additional polarisation adjustments for Eutelsat(+3.5) and Astra (+7) are specific to those satellites only.
Switches come in great variety and vary in function. Some can be controlled from the receiver. In your case, each path through the switch needs to pass the +13/+19volts and 22kHz on/off options.
Best regards, Eric.

Regards and Happy New Year from Paul Williams

Oops - missed off a bit here:

Do it all at ground level. Put a pole in concrete so you have a definitive fixed support.

Using only the central LNB, aim the dish at 19E using 27.4 deg elevation setting on the bracket at the back. Adjust the polarisation -16.5 deg anticlockwise while facing towards the satellite.

Do not move the dish or the main feed arm or central LNB, from now on.

Now attach the supplementary LNB support bar across near the primary LNB.
Tilt the bar approx 16.5 deg anticlockwise, while facing towards the satellite. This will make it easier to position the left LNB lower down and the right LNB higher up, as seen while facing towards the satellite.

Attach the two extra LNB’s to the cross arm, one either side.

Consider the lower down LNB, the one on the left, while facing towards the satellite (13E feed). Adjust its polarisation to -12.3 deg, anticlockwise while facing towards the satellite. Position this feed sideways along the cross arm and up and down till you receive the 13 east satellite. Measure the centre to centre of the feed horn windows for the 13E and 19E feeds. Say D mm.

Now consider the upper right LNB, while facing towards the satellite (28E feed). Adjust its polarisation to -22.3 deg anticlockwise while facing towards the satellite. Adjust its position till you receive the 28E east satellite. The centre to centre spacing of this feed will be approx 1.5 x D mm.

Finally alter the polarisations 13 E by 3.5 deg clockwise. 19 and 28 E both by 7.5 deg clockwise. (fine adjust if necessary)

With the above arrangement you need one receiver and a switch to select any one of 3 satellites, or 3 receivers, one connected to each LNB.

If you wish you may now demount the antenna carefully and mount on a wall or roof. Do the alignment on the 19E satellite only and the others will be correct without adjustment. Take great care working with ladders, dropping tools etc.

This picture shows 5 LNB in use - so your proposal is simple !.

An alternative is a motorised polar mount antenna. This needs only one LNB but you can only view one satellite at a time.
