Default tv display black border lines

hi eurovox using latest software
can you tell me why there are black border lines top and bottom of picture
this only happens on some channels
most channels are fine.
is there a simple fix for this?

the eurovox is displaying the picture in letterbox because the programme you are watching is being broadcast in wide screen. It is better than losing the edges of your picture.

Im guessing by the latest software you dont mean the new beta one as this one should display in widescreen. If its the latest model, upgrade and you will have glorious widescreen.

Judging from the amount of talk about widescreen I'm guessing I am the only person in the world that doesn't have a widescreen tv lol.

yes
i have the latest kuro widescreen support but still a few of the channels have back borders top & bottom of screen ????

Again just a guess, your watching a 4:3 channel which is showing a widescreen picture hence black bars top & bottom, which channel in particular?

think you may be right on that 1.. i have only noticed it on movie channels..

Well that ones obvious.

Tvs are 16:9 (1.78:1), films can be any ratio up to 2.35:1 hence if a film is 2.35:1 on a Widescreen TV you will get black bars top and bottom.

Sky movie channels are in Widescreen.
