Default Info needed on technomates, please help.

Alright guys, ive looked about the site but theres that many threads i would have been here all day looking for the info i needed.

Im really looking for some info on these techno mates as i currently have a dbox and it works great but im moving house in the next few weeks and where i live doesnt have cable ( and im not willing to pay skys prices)

So how hard are they to get working?
What does it cost roughly?
Can you do it yourselves?
Do they need updated regulary.
Do you get all of the english channels, ie: sky sports movies, itv ect aswelll as all the other channels?
How much free premiership football do u get on on a normal weekend?

Sorry about all the questions but i really need as much info as possible before investing in one.

Thanks for any help, it would be much appreciated.

Paul

More or less idiot proof, although you need some technical skill to set a dish up. Nothing that a reasonably intelligent person with minimal DIY skills cant handle though.

Prices for Technomates start at about 50 quid.

Can you do it yourselves?
Yes

Do they need updated regulary.
Depends what you want to watch

You dont get any of the sky pay channels without a valid subscription and some extra boxes of electronics known as a cam and a programmer.
BBC ITV etc are fta so yes you get them.
No C4 C5 or their siblings and timeshifts though.

How much free premiership football do u get on on a normal weekend?
Without a subsription to a foreign pay package or loading regularly updated software onto them you dont get any Premiership

Remember that you would also need to buy a satellite dish, and to get the best out of it, motorise it, so that you could point it to the different satellites available.

I think the site sponsor is doing a whole kit including the receiver for about £140.
Technomate 5200D USB Motorised Kit
Although the wall bracket he supplies is better replaced with a 2inch steel pole and T&K brackets.

The software does not need updating too often, the softcam however, may need updating up to 3 times a day, depending on what package you want to watch.

No,the encryption is secure. You can't have it without them getting paid.
The only option I have heard about is card sharing using a Dreambox or something, but I know no more.

You can view far more channels with a TM and a motorized dish than you can from cable, sly and freeview combined, just not all the channels that Sly show.
