Default Hole through wall

Hi there, I've been advised that I have to drill a 15mm hole through my outside wall and insert a plastic pipe and seal the cable with silicone which I expected to do any way, is it a bit excessive to drill this size hole and fit a pipe?

Still waiting for my pole, can't moan as its for free!

Seems a bit big - I drilled a 10mm hole for my self-install. Didn't use a pipe.

Make sure you use a detector for hidden mains cables or you could look like this

The satellite cable I think is 7mm or is it 8mm diameter, so with a pipe(15mm) that sounds about right. Without the pipe and with a cavity wall (with insulation), it can sometimes be difficult to get the cable through. If you can manage to drill a 10mm hole and get the cable through OK, go for it. I tried and failed miserably.

Tape the cable to the drill bit, then pull it through!

It's dead easy with a 8mm hole - just be gentle, if you feel it touching the inner brick, pull it back slightly and twist the cable through 90 degrees or so

are you going to be using twin satellite cable as this will require a 15mm hole other wise a 10mm will do and use one of those cable hole tidys to neaten it up
