Default Hello techwatch people

hi everyone,
total beginner here so understand my low sat IQ

iam interested in getting a sat system mostly for english prem footie. Ive been reading through the site know for a couple of days and have gathered a little understanding on how things work. My worry is my location, South Wales outside Cardiff in the depths of the welsh valleys, which means mountains and lots of them, a bit hard to manovue around. Been on dishpointer.com and these are the location stats, Lat 51.673 Long -3.369 elevation 23.9 LNB Skew? -15.0. The majority of the sats i think i need to locate are listed as needed a 90cm dish or under. Just need i bit of advice on the best system, prob got about £150 to spend.

Great site by the why

To be honest the question is a bit vague as there are quite a few places you can get English Footie from

First of all it all depends on which package you are looking at, or wether you are looking at getting it free. It also depends on which satellite you are thinking of receiving a signal from.

Are you looking at getting a Digitalb sub (on 16e), a Premiere sub (19.2e) etc etc.

Let us know and then we can advise you better.

Their is, at the moment, quite a bit of Premier League football available using the latest 'patch' on a lot of receivers, or by using a 'cam'. Patching is pretty easy, but remember that you may have to update the software regularly (sometimes 3 or 4 times a day!), and these 'patched' channels could disappear at any time.

The Technomate's are probably the most popular, due to the ease of use and availability of support.

JoshJess of www.southernsatellite.co.uk (board sponsor) is currently offering a motorised TM 5200 USB for £142.45 plus delivery. It all looks like decent kit apart from the 'L' type bracket, but that's easily replaced by buying some 'T' & 'K' brackets and grabbing a short scaffold pole from somewhere.

If you ever thought you might need a sub then ask Joshjess about swapping the 5200 for either a 1500 or the new 5300 box.

Most of the 'free' football is on 19E, although 42E, 13E (Championship) and 1W also show some.

If you wanted a sub, then a DigitAlb card (16E) is probably you're best bet. A 12 month sports card costs around £150, add another £70 or so for the full 'Gold' package with films etc.

HTH,

Kev

Your best bet without paying for a DigitALB card is to get a receiver like a Technomate 5200D and a 1 meter dish point it at Astra 1 and patch the receiver. Once you have done this you can currently get the German sport portal free, but for how long?

The cost for a system like this will cost you around £150

Hope this helps

Hi,

A 1m dish is your best bet, to guarantee reception of 16e if you decided to subscribe, although you might get away with a slightly smaller one, depending on your location.
The difference in cost of an 80cm or a 1m is usually not very much.
