Default Receivers and Eurosport

Hi everybody

I've only been a member for about a week now and would like to thank everyone who has replied to me. This has been invaluable to me and has taught me not to rush into buying anything until you understand what you are buying.

I was delighted to learn that if I bought a digital receiver it would play through my analogue TV and had settled to buy a TM 5200.

On reading the issues raised in the other sections I leant that if you have digital you can't get english audio on Eurosport on 19E, which is my main requirement as Table Tennis is my passion and Eurosport show the major tournaments.

I know that alot of you patch your receivers to get more but would this include english audio on E'Sport.

Anyway because you can get the english on an analogue receiver I think my best bet would be to pay the extra to get a dual type receiver so I can get the best of both worlds. The logic is if I had to subscribe to ES to get the english it would cost me alot more paying the extra for this receiver type and it may give me more options for other stations.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what receiver I should consider along with any other good advice on this subject.

Thanks in anticipation.

There are very few digital / analogue receiver available. I dont think there are any produced new these days. Technomate made one a few years ago, and Echostar made the wonderful IP3000VA which was discontinued long ago. You would probably be best getting a decent digital receiver and a secondary second hand analogue box.

Yep, probably best to loop the Technomate into the Analogue receiver as advised ---- for Eurosport with English Audio. That insulates against the possibility/likelihood of Digi TV 1w going dark.

Default Receivers and Eurosport

Thanks for anwering

I have found a new dual receiver but I think the best bet would be to buy a second analogue receiver as advised for £20 + del new from paxmania and loop it in to a Technomate to get the patching software. So thanks for that advice.

Next question. How do I do this is it just a case of linking the receivers via a scart socket. Or would I have to also loop the F connector cable. If so whats the best way to do it.

If I just use the scart socket would I have to have both receivers turned on at the same time for this to work to the receiver not connected to the F connection.

Could my receiver have blown up if water got in at the LNB short circuiting the cable feed to receiver?

I dont think it would of but I do not want to risk blowing a new receiver if I connect it to my existing dish.

One last thing do all the receivers show the channel names in the display on the receiver. I assume that they all come with a controller that changes the audio setting to select lan. options.

Post merged into original thread - please do not start new threads when replying to a post - it makes following the context of the information already provided very difficult to follow.

You loop the lnb cable from one receiver to the second. The first one needs to be in standby when using the second one.

Most receivers have two F-connector scockets on them.
One is where you plug in the coax from the LNB, the other one is for 'loop through'. You connect it via coax to the LNB input of a second receiver.

I have an analogue receiver which is surplus to requirements. I sent it to a member over a year ago, it never arrived and two weeks ago it appeared back at my sorting office, so it's back at home and you could have it for the cost of the postage and at no charge if it was any use to you. It was tuned into Eurosport on 19E and, for all I know, still is. It survived the journey intact.

If you want to read the full story look under "Retro Techno" entitled "Anyone Interested?"
