Default Which Cable box is recommended the most?

Hi Guys. I'm new to this forum and wanted some advise on what cable receiver to buy. I am a newbie and this will be my first box. I have a friend who has a Dreambox 500c.
I have been on the net and seen that there are a few to choose from :

Starview, Starview 2 (The Box), Digivox, DBox 2, Replay Lite, Pearl Gate, Dreambox, Kryptview ArnEt, IT Gate , Eurovox etc etc

Any hints would be good.

Thanks
