Default My 17" Beast

Attachment 22
This is my 17" Widescreen HP Beast Of A Laptop. Although pushing the boundaries of 'mobile' it still does what I want and much more.

In a way I regret buying such a big laptop but I did want power and thats the what I got.

I'm afraid I cant see the picture. I think you need to put it in a link.

Edit* Can see it now

I'm quite shocked, It's EXACTLY the same Laptop as mine. Completely not what i was expecting. How do you feel about your Laptop is it performing good for you?

Your speakers are much nicer than what I have (I don't even have any) I might purchase some though.

I'm jealous... while not a fan of HP products, I really like that large screen. I have never owned a laptop. I just don't know if I will get good use out of it.. I am behind the PC all day as it is... Not sure I would have a need for a laptop and I'd hate to spend $2,000 for something I won't use much. :dunno:

I'm a student in sixth form so I'm constantly using mine for all sorts of presentations, coursework and audio-visual events so this has been my second laptop (my first was an Acer Travelmate). Although I kind of wish I'd bought a smaller laptop (eg: 15.4") but I need the power and the 17" laptops are more suited for that.

I've got the same laptop just for home use, It's basically my computer but a laptop. My family hasn't had good luck with computers in the pass, with them always braken which ment more money. My brother then got a laptop and has been working for 2 years solid (this was 2 years ago). So I asked my mum if I could have a laptop she said yes. And we went to john lewis and this was the only one they had so I bought it. It's quite nice to have a larger screen as I can't be doing with small ones.

i am looking for a laptop that isn't too heavy since i will be carrying it around for school.

It was £1200 at the time, but I can't say I've seen the same model anywhere else since. As a fat 17" 'er it weighs 4.22kg which isn't too bad . I use it around school as well but not so much in lessons more for media and audio visual so its suitable for that.

I thought it was quite heavy as first but compared to an Alienware 17" at 6kg!!! its not too bad.

Sometimes I wish I'd gone for a smaller laptop but then again I demand a lot from it and I don't think a smaller centrino one would have lived up to the demand.

I've got a friend called Mike who has one of those - and his desk even looks quite like that!

We have lockers at school in case you don't want to carry it round, and to be honest, there isn't a chance that it would fit in mine! My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6000, so is a 15.4" and just classifies as mobile, although ideally I would have something even smaller for school...

But then we always want what we haven't got!

Matt says that the battery life isn't great, but then it IS a desktop replacement!

What are the specs for that beast?

My battery lasts for about 1.5 hours on average depending on what I'm doing, but being a P4 it's not exactly energy effiecient.

The spec is:
3.0Ghz Pentium 4 with Hyper Transport and Speedstep Technology
1024mb DDR2 400mhz ram
100Gb 4200rpm hard drive (can be a bit slow at times when loading games)
128mb dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon X600
DVD Rewriter

Whats the spec of your 15.4"? (Just wondering cause I almost bought a 15.4" Sony Vaio instead of that beast.)

Hmm, my laptop (exactly same one as ures), lasts about an hour on full light strength. Thats the one concept about the laptop I don't like as much, the short battery! So I usally put the light down via fn and f7.
