Default Polish TV

Hi,

Is there any way of getting Polish TV on your PC? I don't mind paying subscription, but free's better obviously It's for my girlfriends mother.

Cheers.

Here is a list of channels that are available from
'real' satellite TV on your PC.

FlySat Polish TV Channels

You would also need a PC satellite receiver card, such as the Skystar, and of course a dish.

Satellite TV on my PC - How is this possible?

Another question, what usb device would you recommend for receiving these channels? Her mother has a laptop so a PCI card isn't going to be an option.

This is not a reccomendation as such because I have not tried it. But there is this model that should do the job:-

TechniSat SkyStar USB Plus

the site sponsor www.southernsatellite.co.uk does it.

It is in the PCI cards section.

Just looked at the Technisat website and there is also a basic Technisat Skystar USB

Not sure what the difference is without reading it all,
but here is the manufacturers website.

One last thing, does the type of dish/LNB/etc matter? Or would a standard sky dish/LNB combo be ok (pointed in the right direction obviously)?

The main satellite on the FTA polish list was Hotbird. Hotbirds transponders are quite strong in the UK, so yes a sky minidish (correct for you location) would work OK.

I use a minidish for hotbird, but get picture break-up and sometimes loss in really heavy rain.

There is not much differnce between Sky dishes and other offset dishes except that the sky dish is a funny shape ( wider, not taller), both use universal LNBs for ku band (the LNB feed shape differs).

If you have a minidish already on sky, it will just need swiveling round a bit, and turned up slightly.

Great. I don't have one but a friend has a spare which he isn't using, so I'll be able to hook it up with that then.

Thanks again... again...

Hi Rojo, might be a silly question, but doesn't your Ma-in-law have a TV?
The best option for her would be a sat receiver connected to a tv. Whilst a pc can be used for tv reception as mentioned above, the quality will rely on the laptop spec.
