Have you tried cutting the power. Unplug let it reboot.

For future reference, I've just noticed that the SL65-12 B1 original firmware was posted on sat-ulc by decserv, dated 17/11/07.

Hope we won't be needing it

Hello Folks, I've been getting on quite well but would like to know how to add a new provider manually. I've been trying to add s*ca2 provider 0065. I've found 0C 0D and 0E keys on the web and added these manually but no joy :-(. Any hints? When adding a key there sometimes seem to be several types available: key8, CF20 etc. How do I know which one to choose. Also within the keys already programmed into the box when I flashed it there are some very long EMM type keys - do these ever need to be changed? or just the short ones. Can someone point to a good general guide for satellite newbies. Thanks in anticipation. SB.

Default Re: Newbie getting started & finished

Hi All, I'm wondering could anyone please help me, i patched my silvercrest sl 65 (for the 2nd time, first went perfectly), after it finished i turned it off & when i power it on it just has a 8 in the right of the display, it will not boot at all.

When i try to use the programs Upgrade_DVB. or SystemUpgrade it just hang on 'test serial port status'.

Thank you in advance for any help

Try launching the upgrade again with your receiver unplugged at the mains. When you get to the stage 'Testing serial port', plug in and wait. You may also need to switch receiver on, depending on whether it boots up to standby or not - so try both methods.

Good luck.

Thanks for such a quick reply Yorks, i tried plugging it in & switching it on when it was Testing serial port to no avail. i also tried the comag software updater and just got

<========== Error ( -4 ) ==========>
Problem : No response from TARGET
Solution: Make sure Target Loader is running properly
Connect your Serial Cabel Properly
Port Settings are not Correct
Restarting the Tartget

<========== Error ( -4 ) ==========>

Connect your Serial Cabel Properly
Port Settings are not Correct
Restarting the Tartget

<========== Terminated by user ==========>
Please Switch Off the Board and then Transmit

I have the port settings correct & have checked the cable (it worked to crash the thing) but all i get is the red power light & 8 on the right of the display.

Is there any way to blank the chip ?

Is there any jumper inside to reboot it ?

Thanks again for your response & any future help, i miss TV

You don't need to switch it on. Run the upload software, choose your firmware file, select bootloader and maincode from the drop down box, click next and you get the testing serial port message. THEN plug in the receiver to the power and it should then pass the test and continue. If you've put older truman firmware in, your remote won't work to switch on and neither will the front power button. Using the above method will bypass that problem. Make sure your new firmware file is patched for the Comag remote and SL65

If all else fails you can restore it via the jtag, in which case you'll need to make up a lead. The jumper inside won't reset or erase the flash. You need a lead and software to do that. If you look in the S1003 SL65/12 thread It'll point you in the right direction. I THINK the firmware is the same for the SL65/12 as the SL65 as long as it has the ALI B1 chip but do check first.

Smile Re: Newbie getting started

Hi,

With all your help on this site I have managed to put the Truman 1.3.81 firmware on my SL65 and it is working great. I have two questions after the upgrade, the first is how do I create favourite channels? The FAV button does not work. The second question is I have heard that some channels carry the original soundtrack on movies, how do I select these?

Thanks

Paul.

Hi Paul. This may help. The red button allows you to change the audio where more than one language is available.

Mod Truman for SL65(B1-6pin)
