Default Eurovox 2008 Model unable to find any channels

Hey all,

I have looked through the FAQ and sticky note but still can't solve my problem.

I got my Eurovox 2008 box a few days ago and set it up using the instructions i was given with it (by the guy i bought it from in the form of an e-mail).

When i go to do powerscan it doesn't find any channels plus i notice that for 80% of the time the signal is 85% or above but occasionally it is very low, usually towards the end aswell.

I tried changing the symbol rate thing aswell, but in Powerscan full the symbol rate boxes have nothing in them just dash lines in them or something similar but in powerscan normal it does have symbol rate. I ran powerscan normal and that didn't find anything either.

Later i noticed just before doing powerscan on the installation screen the signal was in red and very low (8%). V****n gave us this splitter so we have 2 cables (cable connection box to splitter and then splitter to V box). I took the splitter out and conencted the RF cable direct from the cable connection box to the Eurovox box and the signal did increase but still low (29%). Can anyone please help as i'm really struggling.

Many thanks

Have you got the cable feed in the correct connection on the back of the box, it should be on thetop right looking from the front of the box.

Yeah i def have. Do you think i should have one cable going to the V box from the splitter and having another going to the Eurovox box?

Also i don't have the RS232 cable - is this necessary?

Cable needed for software updates so yes you do need one, if you had one you could download a channel list and see if that would work on your box. you don't say what box it is.

You need your V***in box connected as well to a "Y" splitter as the cable company send updates to your box and they expect a reply back from your box, so its best to use a splitter.

Also, in the user installation screen the bar with signal strength is ery low (8%) anyone have any ideas why that is so as i think that is the cause of the problem.

Have you tried using the newest full version firmware. At least one older version firmware was causing the signal to drop to 8% and killed all the channels on some boxes.
