Hi
I am trying to update my EuroVox Max V with the DnUpMan program. My laptop does not have a standard serial port (as most laptops nowadays omit the serial port). I have a USB / Serial converter. So my laptop sees the serial port as Com 9. How do I configure DnUpMan program so that it looks at Com 9 instead of Com1. Thanks in advance for your help. Dave |

I presume you are updating to the latest Kuro update which is a UFL.
To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow these instructions: 1. Go to the Start Menu 2. Right click on "My Computer" 3. Select "Properties" 4. Click on the "Hardware" tab 5. Click on "Device Manager" 6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)" 7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.) 8. Go back to Kuro UFL and make sure it is looking at the correct port. 9. You should be able to download firmware once the correct port is selected. Last edited by satsmo; 14-11-07 at 03:58 PM. Reason: spelling |

When checking the port your adapter is using above, you can change the port from there - change it to COM3 or COM4, then the EV loader program will find it automatically

if you can't change it in the DnUpMan downloader, then connect your USB converter to laptop and EVox, and follow satsmo's advice to step 7. Locate your USB converter (port 9 as you said. )
Right click on that port and select properties. Then select port settings, then select advanced. At the bottom of that tab will be a drop down box with the port selected (port 9 in your case). Use the drop down to select another port (eg 1, 2 or 3). If the port you want to use is already allocated to something else, you can use the same procedure to reassign that port. (that may or may not affect other things, I don't know) Save the selections in the usual way. The USB converter will be permanently assigned to the port you selected. I haven't used that downloader but most seem to scan only the first few ports for a connection to Evox. Voxer has a setting to automatically scan all ports for a Evox and in my case, my USB converter was assigned to port 19 but Voxer found it. You could give Voxer a try, instead of DnUpMan The later Unified File downloader also seems to search the first few ports so anyone using that will need to reassign the USB converter. |

Thanks to all. I changed the serial port on the laptop to Com3 and the DnUpMan picked it up nicely. I have updated my box and it is working OK. I find the voxer prog is much better but unfortunately the update file on the download page is in zip form and the voxer does not see it either in the zipped form or the unzipped form. I used the DnUpMan and it did the trick. One thing I have noticed is that a couple of channels i.e. Film4 break up and freeze on and off even though the signal and quality levels are at 89%. Any ideas on that? Thanks again for your help.

Putting an attenuator did not help. The signal and quality levels dropped to 79 and 80% but the screen was blank and displayed "NO SIGNAL" on the channels which were freezing and breaking up. On removing the attenuator, the channels came back but were crackling and freezing. So it looks likee it is not a "Too much signal" problem. Any more thoughts?
