In that case, give it to me.

Seriously though, do you have a router on your lan? Connect the 500 to the second lnb output and still use the topfield to position your dish. Connect the 500 to your router if you have one and use the existing image if it is up to date and just download the latest emus and keys.

A bit more to it than that but have a go and see.

You dont necessarily need to change the installed image unless it is a very old one.

Connect to the router and then with 500 on tv, press menu>setup>expert setup>connections setup.

uncheck DHCP
Enter an IP to match your lan/router IP
ie if your router IP is 192.168.0.1 then enter:
192.168.0.24 last number can be different.
255.255.255.0
192.168.0.1
192.168.0.1

check 'enable network'
save

At this point you should have a direct connection from your pc to your Dreambox so that you can ftp and http from the pc to the 500.

I have assumed so far that it is a sat box and not a cable box but the above applies to both.

Depending on the image installed, you can use the menu or blue buttons to download addons direct to the dreambox. I would suggest the best at present is the CCcam emu. If the image allows direct download of keys then download them. If not, you need to download keys to your pc and then ftp transfer them to you dreambox. Put keys into the var/keys folder. This changes depending on the emu that you use.

If you have a subscription card then pop it in the card slot and it should read within a few moments.

Have a play and let us know how you get on.

One thing I did forget is that the login to the dreambox is root and the default password is dreambox.

If for some reason you cant connect it may be because the password has been changed. It is always a good idea to change the password to protect your box.

The pc programmes needed to play with a dreambox are:
Flashwizard 6.3
Dreamup
Flashfxp or Cuteftp
Dos window

There are others like Dreambox Control Center but I stick to the above four.

FlashWizard is used for adding or changing an image via lan.
Dreamup is used for installing an image via serial null modem cable if/when you c*ck up the system,
Flashfxp is used to transfer files to/from the Dreamox and PC
Dos window is used to change passwords and other direct commands.

It should use the same softcam.key file as used by Technomate's and other receivers/CAM's, the name of the file will depend on the emu is use on the Dreambox, should just be a case of downloading it, renaming and FTP'ing it over.
