Default no channels - no transponder help pls

firstly can i just say hi to everyone as im new here - ive bought a eurovox 3 2008 vmax box and tried to do the normal red button scan first but said no transponders found, being a newbie i thought this search was to look via a satelite dish and then i tried doing the yellow button which is the power scan - the red bar signal strength was at 8% in the red, i have done the scan and did get some of the frequencies hitting 85% green bar and others red low bar - anyway after the full scan i ended up with tp000 and no channels - i have read a few posts here first and tried putting the settings in as shown for other posts but it still didnt work, i also tried putting the coax straight into the back of my tv which got the 4 main channels np at all and i also tried my old modified analogue box which received sky sports etc.. - so i know i am getting a signal still - i took the box to a friend of mine who is subscribed to v***** broadband and the box worked first time on his so i know the box is fine, so i have now gone back to try read other posts on signal strength and realised that the no transponders message may be the problem, but the post i read didnt say how to fix this, i have tried to read posts first before troubling people with just asking but upto now failed, can someone pls advise me as to what to do now - thank you

As you have already determined that your cable is live then I would start to look at the box as the cause of the problem. Make sure your box is running on the newest full version firmware. Reset your box to factory settings then do a full powerscan (not normal powerscan) on the 6.952 frequency. If still nothing reset to factory settings again and do another full powerscan on the 6.997 frequency, see if that brings something up.

i have tried the box at a friends of mine who lives about 4 miles away and it worked first time on the settings the box had when u first power it on - got 230 channels so i know the box works - i think it is something with my connection maybe although a few people who have posted here have had the same problems - my friend can receive digital whereas my line is only analogue (i checked with v**** today ) could this have something to do with it - should i still do as you advised trog or was that only if i wasnt sure if the box was faulty ?

I'm not sure how the Eurovox works on an analogue line as I am sure it is a digital box. If your friend lives four miles away then he might live in an area that uses a different frequency so I would definately try both. As I have said in another post, definately upgrade your firmware to the newest full version if you havent already as one older version can cause problems. If you still have no luck I would suggest buying a booster with slope control as you may just have a weak line.

If you live in a low signal area and have weak signal problems with poor results when scanning or picture breaks up when watching.

Go to Menu /Config / Settings /Signal Booster

The Default Settings Off

Switch On/

Press Blue button to Save & Exit
