Hi mate This is the way I have mine setup I got a Home cinema system, with 2 Subs, one which came with the Home cinema and separate JBL active SUB 140 RMS now I have them 24 channel old Graphic EQ's which have multiple RCA ports @ the back. So if you can get hold of that or get an amp then your problem is solved I would say. Then u can connect your Sly box via HDMI or Scart depending on if you have a HD / SD box. And connect the PS 3 with HDMI as well and then your surround sound system with a Scart / hdmi. after that conect all 3 equipment with a Phono plugs to the AMP and then when ever your watching something and want the sound to output to come from your surround system then u can basically switch to different channels on the AMP. hope this makes sense.

Gav I think your amazing and very helpful! I have a simular problem to the above to be honest, I have recently purchased a Samsung UE32C5100 Television with the Samsung HT-Z310 Sorround System which I simply want to link upto my SKY+ box and my new Xbox 360 250GB. Its not so simple though when its all infront of you with the wires everywhere... Could be so kind to tell me how I would get round to doing this. I know i may sound abit thick but i think you'll agree it is quite complicated
Thanks In Advance, Matthew!

for most people the best option is to connect the audio output from the TV to the surround sound system . some hd tv's have optical out but most will have rca outputs .
rca will not output true 5.1 but the surround amp will make it sound better than the tv in most cases . if your surround amp does have an optical input but the tv does not have optical out , choose the item with the best sound out to use the port . in most cases this will be a ps3 or blu ray player . If you want true 5.1 with all your items you should look for a pro audio / video amp . they start from around 300 ish , speakers not included . |

if no inputs then its not possible . some dvd/blu ray players have a built in surround sound amp but are not made to allow more inputs . |

i have a problem wiring a home cinema to my existing kit.
heres a list of items i would like as many as possible to play through the home cinema. 1} TV=Toshiba model 32kv501 has 1 scart socket,1 spdf digital audio socket,2 x HDMI input sockets,a VGA socket, USB socket, headphone socket, and AV video/ audio connections(the red/white/yellow rf connections i think they are called) 2) sky plus box 3) XBOX 4) Panasonic SC-PT90EB-K dvd home cinema system = has 1 HDMI - OUT And 1 scart socket ok now i tried wiring hdmi from cinema to tv and scart from sky to cinema but no picture just sound. also tried scart from cinema to tv and hdmi from sky to cinema and no picture again. if i do scart from cinema to sky then hdmi from sky to tv i get sound and pic but no on screen menus from cinema i can only select 1 item a time on the tv input aswell. can you tell me the best way to get both sky and xbox to play through cinema speakers and giving on screen display from all please im desperate? is there something extra i need or do i need to look at a different set up open to suggestions on all accounts. thanks for reading |
