Default TM1000D Receiver

Hello ,

I am trying to install my Dish / receiver and on the TM1000D satellite set up page are 2 indicating bars showing a percentage value the top one(Level) is at 90% but the Bottom One (quality ) keeps moving up and down between 1% an 70% it does not stay static like the top bar .
Also I do not receive a Picture.
Set up page reads :
Satellite > 28.2 ASTRA2
SAT Degree > 28.2 E
LNBPower > On
LNBType > Universal
LNB Freq > 9.750/10.600
22KHz > AUTO
DiSEqC 1.0 > OFF
DiSEqC 1.1 > OFF
LEVEL IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII 90%
Quality continually flashing up and down .

Please help .

Fred.

Your not locked on to 28.2e i can tell you that for starters. The chances are if you have a good power reading is that you may be locked on to a different satellite like 19.2e. You could try pressing the sat button on the remote and selecting Astra1, Hotbird etc etc. This will at least let you know where you are looking and will help indicate which way to turn the dish for 28.2e

Have a look round to see where other dishes in the area are pointing and line it up in roughly the same place. Just move the dish slowley until both signal bars move up

Hi,

Do you mean move the dish left to right or move the dish up and down or both?

Depend on where its pointing atm. I would try and get a lock on 19.2e first and the move the dish to the left (from behind the dish) and down slightly to get 28.2e

I've always found 19.2e an easier sat to get than 28.2e which is why i always use it as a reference point for all the other sats

Ok , I live in Holland and the other people have there dish pointing at 19.1 Astra 1 . I am trying to get Astra 2. I tried what you said and all 3Sats show a high % reading ( level ) but all 3 Astra 1 an 2 and Hotbird show poor quality.

It takes a little bit of patience and a lot of practice, to get the dish aligned.

As you have dishes in your area on 19.2E, select that sat in the menu, and concentrate on getting that perfect to start with. Concentrate on the signal quality. Once you are roughly in the right place, make only very small movements of the dish.

Hello ,

I have good picture quality on the Astra 1 19.2E . I switch over to Astra 2 poor quality no picture . When you say move a little bit are we talking centimeters or millimeters ? When its a good set up for Astra 1 should I move it to the left / East ? Is there any special equipment I could use or is this how all Satellites are found ?

Howdy Fred.
Stand behind your dish and move it to the left in small increments (mm)and tilt the dish forward(mm).
You may have to adjust the skew on your lnb a little ( by twisting it anti-clockwise if your behind it(mm))but can't be far off if your receiving 19E.
Use your receiver to note the signal quality (level is for receiver to lnb(I think?))
Wait a few seconds after you move it and let the receiver catch up,
Takes a little patience but once you getthere you'll be sorted
Regards

About an inch and half at the end of the lnb arm. Don't forget to lower the arm slightly aswell as Astra 2 is lower in the sky than Astra 1.

To go to 28.2E from 19.2E you need to move the dish left (from behind) about 10 degrees and down by about 3 degrees.

The azimuth movement will be about 1 to 2 cm, the elevation about 0.5 cm. (at the edge of the dish)
You can calculate the exact amount using trigonometry.

i.e dish movement = ( az/el mount lenth) x tan (angle required)

You can adjust the dish using the meter on the receiver. I always use a cheapo satellite finder meter with a needle on it (Maplin-£10 approx), I find it makes the job, just that little bit easier.

Maplin > Analogue Satellite Finder

EDIT. Damn, beaten by both Nano and Barr
