Default Lost "H" Channels

Hi,

I am hoping somebody could help me with a problem I have with my motorised satellite System?

I have a Technomate TM-7755 2VA 2CI Motorised System. I have had it now for about 2 years and everything has been working fine. Now all of a sudden I seem to have lost quite a few channels (when I try to access the channel I get the "No Signal" message) My System still seems to be picking up all the Satellites its just quite a few of the channels won't work. I have spent quite a while trying to work out what has gone wrong but so far I can't work it out. The problem seems to only effect the "H" channels as all the "V" channels I have checked work fine. I don't think it is a problem with the motor as the everything seems to be moving OK at the dish. I suspect it must be some sort of Memory problem and I probably need to delete something and start from scratch, however I don't really know what I am doing and I am worried I might delete something and not know how to get things back again and end up with "No Channels" Any ideas?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hiya mate,

If you can't receive any horizontal channels, but are getting the vertical no problem, then I would say it's either the receiver or the LNB that's faulty.

Can you try another LNB on it? Or try you're LNB with another receiver? Or you could always buy a new LNB anyway, you can pick them up for a tenner these days

also if its a couple of channels that say no signal then check on lyngsat.com for any change to its frequency

but otherwise it sounds more like an lnb or receiver fault.

Some of the cheap meters have indicator LEDs on them to show whether H or V is being selected OK by the Receiver. The one Maplin sell does.

Although it would might work out cheaper just to replace the LNB, if you don't have a meter already.

Guys,

Thanks for all the replies, I thought it was going to be some sort of a "reset" sort of problem, but I will take your advise on the LNB.

I am not very technical, how easy is it to fit a new LNB? Do I need to take any precations? (Make sure the receiver is switched off etc..) How do I know which type of LNB to buy? (I think I have a 1 metre dish)

Thanks again for the advise.

Just make sure the receiver is switched off while you do it. Not much to it really, you may find moving the LNB backwards or forwards a little will increase you're signal quality too

You probably have a universal 40mm neck LNB.

The site sponsor does a few that would do you.

The "Inverto Silvertech 0.2dB single LNB" should be OK.

Feel free to post a photo of yours, to make sure.

You can always test the voltage on the coax at the LNB end (once disconnected from the LNB, obviously).

12.5V to 14.5V gives vertical polarisation. 15.5V to 18V gives horizontal polarisation. More than 20V could kill your LNB and less than 12V is probably not enough to operate the LNB at all.
