Default Dead Eurovox - help required with jtag!!!

I'm looking for some help re my Eurovox Max. I have had it a couple of years and suddenly is just died - no power & no lights on. I read a few threads so I bought a circuit to jtag it. I'm totally new to all this infact I would go as far as to say I am totally clueless.

I have connected it up & opened up the Jkeys on the cd provided and I keeping getting a error message

Quote: Error, no response from jinterface on Com1, check connections and retry.

I've rechecked and still nothing. No idea what to do next - anybody any ideas????

I don#t think a Jtag is going to help you.. You say there is no power..no lights.
Usually boxes that need jtag simply remain in standby..ie there is evidence of some lights on the box.
This sounds like a PSU problem, never opened one up but is there an internal fuse. Have you checked the power lead?

I opened it up and there is power going in (had a shock to prove it). I have also swapped leads and still nothing. i'm not liking the sound of a PSU problem - what is it and is it fixable?

Is it worth while getting it fixed or should just invest a new box?

Which version of Jkeys are you trying to Jtag with??

You need to change it to a Parallel port in 'File' - 'Preferences' in Jkeys, it does not work off a Com port.

A lot of times you get no power lights at all and other times a variety of green lights, so it could need to be Jtagged or the power supply could be faulty.
Try Jtagging again with the port set to Parallel.

Have a look at the file "Jtag How To2 .zip" in the downloads section here Box.net - Free Online File Storage, Internet File Sharing, Online Storage, Access Documents & Files Anywhere, Backup Data, Send Files

Leave it set on port settings 0x378 and follow the instructions in the above link. It might take a few goes but don't give up.
