Hello All.
I have a question that hopefully somebody can put me staright on...... Firstly a confession.............I am a total digital virgin !!However, I have been convinced to part with a few quid to have installed a dish etc which comes in this week. The package is the Free to satellite one with them throwing in for 6 months a range of channels which we'll loose afetr that period. Currently, the whole house's TV's simply run standard analogue. I cannot recieve FTA from the current transmitter and it won't go digi until 2012 (That's N.Ireland for you!!). Living on the border, we enjoy both BBC/ITV channels as well as RTE ones, which we use equally. Now to the question(s).......... 1) Firstly, will I loose the RTE channels once Sky is connected? 2) If so, is there a way to swich between analogue and digital ie to bypass the digi reciever, and if so how do you do that? Does it require any kit at the point of installation etc. The fitting of that doesn't bother me as I am happy with cabling work if required. So, if and when you have all picked yourselves up off the floor from your laughing fit and come to understand how little I really know about this, any chance of a reply , some help, the odd prayer .many thanks Jaba |

Hi Jaba,
![]() Welcome to Techwatch. You should still be able to access your terrestrial analogue tv channels just the same as you do now. Your Sky box will usually be connected to your TV using a scart lead and then you will select it through the AV channel of your TV. You will still be able to watch analogue tv as your outdoor aerial can connect into it too and then to your VCR or TV as it does now. The Sky box has 2 scart outputs, one to the TV, and one to the VCR. Hope I've got this right - as I don't acually have one of these. ![]() If I'm wrong - someone will put me right. ![]() Yorks. |
