Well there are several reasons why he may need it!!!
The main reason is if you have a dreambox, and the analogue signal is being switched off in your area, you are unable to get channel 4, cannel 5.

This is the old-style card, and not a 'Yellow House' card - so it won't unlock anything - Channel Four, Five, nothing.
