Hi
Just installed a 43cm mini dish with a WNC universal quad lnb and connected it to the first sky digibox and are getting no signal at all!! I have had somebody on the roof moving the dish around to try and get a signal but with no look. Can somebody tell me am I doing something glaringly wrong or could it possibly be a duff lnb? The specs for the lnb are Input 10.70 Ourpur 12.75 Ive got the power to the lnb on the box switched on. Do i need to input the above numbers somewhere on the box? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thom |

Hi,
There should be nothing to change in the box to make the LNB work, as long the powere to the LNB is switched on. Firstly I suggest you go and buy a satelite finder meter, from ebay or £11.99 from Maplin. Not only will this make alignment easier, you would also be able to check that the LNB is being powered. The person 'waving' the dish around would be able to check signal level, whilst moving the dsh. Do you/he know where they are actually supposed to be pointing the dish? It needs to be pointed about 28 degrees east of south, with the dish face roughly vertical (depends on your location). The adjustment needs to be done carefully and accurately. A degree or so out and you won't get a signal. Robbo

Thanks for that robbo, I'm going to go and get a signal meter from maplin tomorrow.
I live in the north west, near liverpool, would you suggest having the dish vertical in my location? Also on the lnb there are 5 numbers and the ability to loosen the attachment arm and twist it to match up with the numbers, does this have a coinnection with the number of outputs from the lnb that you are using, being a quad and only using 2 or is it somthing to do with the alignment, if so, which setting should I have it at? Thanks again for all your help Thom |

So yours, as luck would have it, for a minidish should be tilting down by about 0.5 degrees; so very close to vertical, so START with it like that, it will still pick the sat up ok) Have a look at one of these:- Dish Setup - Angle Calculators The numbers are for the skew, Stick it in the middle to start with (3), then adjust it later for best signal quality.
