Certainly a good quality cable will give you the best results - but if the cable is proper satellite cable then it should do the job. I use WF100 which is foam filled and is fine for up to 40 meter runs.
Also take a look at this for connection instructions. _http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/fconn.htm Yorks. ![]() |

If you get the cable from Satcure, get their F-connectors too as they do them to match each specific cable type, and they fit nice and snugly.

Quick update
I took the motor down last night and brought it inside to have a proper look at it. Everything seems fine with it but when i connected the motor to the reciever using a very short amount of cable the motor didn't get any power at all. I then used another bit of cable (all the same cable as i had before) and the motor started to work. Unfortunatley it didn't last long. I managed to drive the motor from 40ish West to about 10 West. It then died on me. I tried again and it worked until it got to about 5 West then died again. I tried again and got to about 2 West and died again. After that it wouldn't move again but clicked as if trying to. Also when it died the LED light on it went Orange which indicated in the manual was either an "over current or reached hardware limit" Any ideas? |

Assuming that you have disabled hardware limits, then it would be the overcurrent problem.
If the motor is getting stuck, it will draw more current to try and push its way through, or the actual electric motor inside could be faulty. However, I imagine there would be some sort of current limiting device in there to stop complete burnout of all the circuitry, hence the orange light. It really sounds like the motor is ill. You could take it apart and try and fix it, but better to ask for a replacement/refund as you have only just bought it. Robbo ![]() |

Thanks Robbo for the response. I have emailed the guy i bought the motor from and he has agreed to give me a replacement. Hopefully it is the motor that is at fault and not my reciever. I am running it from a TM1500 Super which i bought only 3 months ago. Without checking on another motor is there an easy way to check that the reciever is sending out the correct current?

There are ways to check what output the receiver is giving but you would need a decent multimeter, to check the voltage and current that the receiver supplies. Alternatively with a decent sized 12V battery and some croc clips on the end of some coax you could check the motor in isolation. If you haven't got the kit, don't fancy hooking up an alternative supply, or don't have access to another receiver, the replacement is the best option. |

Hi
I picked up the replacement motor on Saturday and the motor works fine now. My only problem now is configuring the damn thing. I followed the instructions in the Satellite Faqs section but have gone wrong somewhere as when i moved from 1w to 19.2e the dish was way too high. I had to drop it down quite a bit to get a signal. I think I will re-read the instructions again and try again. |
