Default No East Sats

Hi all,

Well i have just installed my corner shops system and got everything west (well most) but i cannot get anything east!!

After doing a bit of twiddling, i got my level and checked the pole for plumb in all directions (he put up the mast).

The pole wasnt upright at all in any direction!!!

Would this mean that its possible that we could get west sats but not east?

Cheers!
Jason.

Not 100% but yes I think so, a plumb mount is the most important thing in a motorised system

Only in very exceptional circumstances can a pole be off vertical and be corrected by adjustment elsewhere. ( My wall faces exactly due south).

So yes a wonky pole could cause that problem. The arc could be leaning over to one side. The pole must be vertical, or the dish will never track the arc all the way round.

I thought you weren't going to do it for him, as it was too high?

I wasnt going to if he was gonna mount it at the top of his house.

As it is, he has put it just above gutter line of his garage, which is just about as high as i wanna be on a dark and cold sunday night.

Got it up and running fairly quick tho.

It just seemed odd that it picked up 1W and on but no easts at all.

He had a pole purpose made with brackets that doesnt allow any adjustment.

I have now been given the task of getting him some proper t&k brackets and he is going to remount it.

They do them here

TLC Electrical Supplies

I think Stick has used them.

You may have one local.

I would check the pole first thing after he has done it, before even getting your spanner out.

To pick up just one satellite, you can have the pole as wonky as hell, you want to see what my fixed dish on 1W is mounted on, it is not pretty, and it is not vertical.
Getting the western but not the eastern sats I am sure could be explained fully if you thought about it long enough. But I don't think I will.

Thats where i got mine from and was were i was going to get his.

Spanners will be firmly left in the van until i am completely satisfied that the installation has been carried out to my strict guidelines.

I dont just do any old sat jobs.

im a heavily respected satellite installer on these forums with many days experience ya know.

Oh, you have a van, you must be then.

I think you did well to get what you did working.

True.
It just doesn't bear thinking about at Midnight on a Sunday night. I like things to be straightforward, as it should be.
Getting it vertical saves my brain from having to worry about it.
