Hi
I am thinking of buying a skystar 2. Was wondering whether my PC has enough specs to be able to handle it properly. Any Advice will be appreciated PC is 2 years old. It is a dell dimension Has a Pentium 4 3.00 Ghz Has 512 MB of Ram Has a Radeon X600 256MB Hyper memory display adapter. When I stream from the internet have alot of problems with pictures freezing. I dont play games just mainly am on internet and PC is adequate for all other needs. Do I need new graphics for the skystar not to freeze? |

I was going to point you to the Technisat website which did give recommended pc specs for the card. However, the muppets have got someone to redesign the website and it is now like a sales brochure with virtually no information.
I think the 512 MB ram is a bit tight. Which pc operating system are you using?

Im using XP. Im within the specs, which are 700 Mhz, 256 MB, 10 GB hard space. Im assuming my card is 3d. However, things dont usually run OK on min specs. If my graphics card is ok ill bung in 2 GB of ram as that will only cost me another thirty quid or so that will be well worth it to prevent PC meltdown

XP is fine. Give it a go.
Do you already have a dual or quad lnb? If so then a connection to the second output will let you see other channels on the sat at which your dish is pointing.

Hi Sportspunter
If you see my recent post in this section Problem with skystar 2 card you will see I am now running the skystar 2 card on a pc with much lower spec than your own -namely 512 mb 64 MB graphics Also using xp Go for it and enjoy! I certainly haven't regretted my purchase. |

Those specs should be fine with the skystar 2. I used to run mine ok on a P4 1.4 with 512 meg of ram and a 128 meg geforce card though obviously the faster the pc and more memory the better.
