Default MaxVar Image...Help!!!

I'm soon to be delving into the world of a Dreambox 500 at the weekend and upto now i'm trying to find as much info as i can to make sure i don't brick the box

I'm more than capable on the 7020 Dreambox so it shouldn't be a major problem

Just wondering what the hell a MaxVar image is and what is the difference between Maxvar and a normal image, and more importantly how do you install it, do you need to alter anything on the box to get it to install. I use flashWizard on my 7020, although i have been told to use Dreamup to install an image to a 500

Any help would be appreciated here. Once its working with an image i should be able to configure it the same as my 7020 hopefully.

Nano

Hi nano m8. As you are aware, you can only have one image on a 500 and because the flash memory is so small it is necessary to limit the size of the image as much as possible. Most of the image writers have produced what they call Maxvar images where the image has been stripped to the absolute minimum.

I believe you can still use Flashwizard to install the image however you may need to use Dreamup if you lose the Dreambox IP.

Go for it, we all enjoy a laugh at someone else's expense.
