Default A newbie asks

Hi my name is Steve and I'm thinking of putting a Eurovox box on my Christmas list but before I do I've a couple of newbie questions which I hope are not too dumb, I have been reading up on the forum and searched but not quite found the answers.

I have a Telewest/Virgin cable line coming into my house which was put in by the previous occupants hence I have absolutely no subscription attached to it. I do however know that it is live because I've plugged it straight into my telly with a normal aerial plug and I get channels 1,2,3,4,5, BBC News 24, Hallmark, Eurosport plus a couple of scrambled ones and a Virgin test card type thing. I don't intend to get a subscription so my question is is this suitable for a Eurovox?

Secondly, I was wondering if anyone on this forum uses a Eurovox with a TiVo and if the TiVo will change the channels on the box OK?

Sorry for my ignorance and thanks in advance for your help.

Regards
Steve P.

Lovely,

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated.

From what I've read the TiVo should be able to change channels but I have read that the channel order jumps around a bit, is it possible to backup your preferred channel numbering then re-apply it if it changes?

Thanks once again

yes you can back up your channel info using Dunupman or voxer available in the downloads
But if the cable suppliers change frequencys/transponders you'll need to scan again to pick up the new TPs

Its worth bearing in mind that what you get down that abandoned cable feed is in the lap of the Gods really, granted a lot of boxes work, but there are always lots of posts also complaining of signal problems and you cant complain to anyone when you dont subscribe....just thought I would mention that

Thanks for your help chaps.

I have bought a Eurovox Max 2008 from eBay and it has just arrived.

It powerscanned and found loads of channels (strength is usually about 83% ish).

So I am dead chuffed and couldn't/wouldn't have done it without your invaluable help.

It works fine with the TiVo too.

Thanks again
