Hi andy
welcome to the forum,

I suspect that your problem is that you have either used poor quality cable for your extention, or that the junction boxes are of poor quality, or you have made the cable too long. Or all three?

Did you make the extentions yoursef or buy them. If self made, did you put the connectors on properly:
How to fit 'F' connectors to coaxial cable

Could you post a picture of what you have used to join the cables?

How much have you extended it by?

What cable did you use?

It is best to not have a join at all if you can.

But otherwise two of these should do the job:-

The maximum total length using standard 100 type cable is about 30m

Default Connection trouble

Thanks robbo,

Using best quality cable, using waterproof splitter boxes bought from TLC to connect.

Are they the problem?

What these?

Weatherproof Tv Splitter

If so, yes, I agree with madrat. Get rid of them.

Try the ones I posted, with some f-connectors on the end of the cables.

If it works OK, waterproof with self-amalgamating tape, stretched over nice and tight.

and what is 'best quality cable' ?

Where did you buy it, what spec is it, is it satellite cable?

One of the better quality cables is wf100.

It is called self-amalgamating tape.

It is not sticky, but welds itself together when you stretch it a bit round what you want taped up. It gives a waterproof seal.

Ordinary PVC electrical tape doesn't.

Although it will be OK for I little while, hopefully.

B&Q sell it for about £5 for a small reel, but you don't need much.
