Default Losing my connection after 9.45pm every night

hi
I having problems with using wireless with virgin media. I have been using wireless since may 06 the first year I didn't have any problems until about 6 months ago I find I get disconnection ed after 9.45pm every night before then I don't have any problems. I have also tried changing my router and when i have connected virgin about this problem the are taking no responsibility for the problem.
If there is any help or information you could give me would be great

Welcome to the forum Carol.

Have you checked the control panel>parental control settings in windoze? That may have accidentally been changes and caused the internet connection to stop between certain hours.

hi

No my parent controls are off it does seems to disconnect and I find i got to reconnect or other times it will reconnect it comming to the point it driving me mad and are thinking of moving broadband but i not sure if i need to change my phoneline as well

any help would be great

Strange it at the same time every night.

Does it do it using a cable straight to the modem instead?

This would prove/disprove if this is actually a wireless problem or something else. Virgin don't support wireless problems, but if there is a problem with their broadband connection, they should fix it.


I had a wireless problem sometimes, and it was somebody using my wireless connection. But I have fixed them now, by setting up a mac address access list on my router.

Is anyone nearby turning a videosender on?? I had a similar problem when I turned on our wireless router - the wireless link completely blatted out the laptop link!

I had to play with the settings on the videosender and change the channel the laptop was using.

I have connected my laptop to the main modem and it works fine I don't know enough to change setting. I do know my friend who stays in the next village has the same problem and is with vigin as well we cant understand why thats happening. my wireless has a password so i dont think anyone eles is using it just really annoyed paying all the money and cant use it

If it was interference from an external source, this would be worse the further away from the router.

Does it work if you put the laptop right next to the router (wireless)?

When it doesn't work, are you getting good signal quality?


To change settings on the router, you will have to login to it, on mine I have to type 192.168.1.1 into the browser, it may be different for yours, try looking at the support site for your router.

i have sat the laptop top right next to router to see if that makes any diffrence but it doesnt the signal is full most of the time sometimes when i go to reconnect it can be low but i cant see will this would only be after a certain time at night.

I contacted the shop i brought the second router from and there saying possibe virgin is to blame as that likely there busy time and have been known to drop the signals (not sure if thats true)

If it works with wires all the time but not wireless, it can't be a poblem with the internet connection.

do you mean that it could be that virgin media to blame and if there are hoe do i get them to listen i have spent a fortune calling the tech department so far with no luck
