Default Scan V Blind Scan

I read the Thread on 'Blind Scans' so I thought I would test my Tech 1500c+, off I went to 24.5W did a blind scan (took about 3 mins) and whoopee I got my first feed channel, nothing interesting just a reporter picking his nose waiting to report. The I thought what is the difference between a 'Blind Scan' and an ordinary scan. That is my question.

A blind scan checks all frequencies for channels whereas an ordinary scan checks either what's in the receivers memory or specific frequencies you input.

Hi billet,

The normal scan uses a pre-set transponder list to do a scan.
It simply steps through the transponders in the list, does a scan on each and sees what channels it can find.

A blind scan/blind search/power scan, does not need a preset transponder list.
It just starts at the lowest frequency and stops at the highest frequency, stepping up x MHz at a time trying to find transponders and the channels on each.

The upper and lower limit, the step size, polarisation, fta or not are usually selectable in the options for the scan.

P.S a similar question was asked recently, have a look at this thread.

Blind search??
