Emu's for Dreambox 500s

Hi Guys, I don't know if I need a new introduction but I love the new site. After succeeding with my Technomate 1500ci, albeit with a lot of help from you good people, I think I've got that sorted now. Unfortunately the bug has bitten and while in America I bought a new Dreambox 500S for a very few dollars. I've played with it and successfully managed to load Gemini 4.1 image. I am now totally baffled on how to load Emus into it. Could anyone patiently help me and advise what emus to go for and whether or not I can load more than one into the box.

Hi philjo90, The memory on the 500 is limited so it is best to keep the number of emus and plugins to a minimum. I assume you have installed the max var image version which makes the best use of memory.

If you have the 500 internet connected, then you can install the emus direct from the Gemini site. If not you need to find the emu tar.gz file and ftp it into the /tmp folder and then select manual install. Or you can unzip the tar.gz file and then ftp the files to the approriate folders.

I would recommend using the CCcam emu to start with.

All that may sound confusing but it is not, as long as you know how to ftp files. If you dont, then just shout and we will run through it with you.

Hi Jim, Thanks for your help. I have got the latest cccam. Also Expressfxp, and have got my pc linked to my Dreanbox ok. When I unzip the cccam there are 6 files
cccam.armeb
cccam.cfg
cccam.mipsel
cccam.ppc
cccam.x86
cccam.x86_64
My problem is where do I install these files in the Dreambox, and do I install all of them? Thanks again I really do appreciate your help.

Ok the only files of those that you need are CCcam.ppc and CCcam.cfg. The rest are for different chipsets like windows Intel, AMD etc.

Put CCcam.ppc in var/bin and change name to CCcam_2.0.4 and change attributes to 755.

You also need a file CCcam_2.0.4_cam.sh which goes into /var/script

I will check the files and will confirm the details.
