Default video recorder problem(help)

If there are any cable or tv engineers out there then any advice would be appreciated.
Got a guy out to put another ariel(dont think this is the right spelling) point in for a wee portable i am getting my daughter.Ther are now 3 tvs running off the main line. The main tv and 2 portables. He disconnected my analogue connection in order for the other 2 tvs to be active. In other words I now have to watch all my tv channels through my "digi box cough cough".
I did`nt particularly like this idea as i like reading teletext as well as watching the video, both I was unable to do when my analogue connection was disconnected.
Because the kids tv is not going to be up and running till after xmas I re-connected my analogue connection in the meantime so that i could get teletext. My problem now is that I cannot get a picture on my video channel. The volume is almost always there but the picture is just colour shadows.I am 99.9% certain that all my connections are fine but I cant even get the menu channel on the video as it is the same as when Itry to play a video. I have tried re-tuning the video through the haze of the menu page but it does not pick up any clear channels just the haze that i can see all the time.In other words it seems to be slightly off kilter.
Does anyone have any ideas how i may combat this?
And when I finally have to disconnect my analogue connection so as the kids can watch both their tv`s upstairs how , or indeed will I be able to watch anything on my video recorder.
Sorry if this is a bit longwinded but any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Can't you use a Scart cable for your video.

If not it sounds like you TV needs retuning to your video.

Is your digi box connected to the TV with an aerial coax cable or a scart lead? If coax, it's possible that the channel from the video machine is the same or very near the channel from the digi box. If that is the case there will be interference between them. Perhaps try to alter the channel output of one or the other - just a suggestion.

Personnally I would use a tv amplifier at the point where your aerial comes in . If you get one with two outputs, one could be used for the main tv/digibox and the other output could be used for the upstairs tv's. This would give you teletext upstairs.
