Hi macca,

One of the best supported receivers patchwise at the moment is the Technomate TM5400CI+

The user intererface is similar to the TM1000 which is very easy to use.

The 5400 has a USB port for PVR capability.

Motor wise, the Moteck sg2100 is one of the most popular. I have a STAB H-H myself and it seems OK.

A patch lets you decode scrambled channels without buying a subscription.

Cams can be used for official smart cards, but certain cams cam be loaded with software to do a similar function as a patch. A cam needs a slot on the receiver to plug into.

The supply is not a problem, you can easily get what you want from the net.

If you decided to try and install yourself, we can help you if you need it.

You should be able to find an installer in the yellow pages otherwise.

Or hopefully someone will reccomend one to you.

The Vantage 7100 will let you connect to a sata drive. Having installed the Technomate 6800.6900 receivers I would go for one with an inbuilt HDD, as the problem with external HDD is that you can only record the channel you are watching.

Try southernsatellite he should be able to do you a good deal if he has them in stock.

Satellitesuperstore has a good reputation too, but some items can be a bit pricey.

I honestly couldn't tell you as I installed my own, most of our members do. I did check up a while back when I first started and one company was charging £200.

I can only suggest you get a few quotes and compare prices.
