Thread moved into the Cable TV chat are as its bu99er all to do with satellites.
PLEASE try to post in an appropriate section lads - posting cable questions in the sat section just reinforces the idea that cable tv bhoys are thickies who are too stupid to use the forum properly

check out authorised traders, personaly I use infinity phoenix usb, this or duolabs dynamite would be my programer of choice over pure usb only (only if your pc/lappy has a dedicated serial port) as the Virtual comm ports nedded by the usb versions can be a nightmare to set up and work properly.
There is cheaper programers, but you will buy one of these eventualy when this hobby grabs you and you find your £10 programer cannot do what you want. unapitt, chartman and mikedata I have used and never had any problems with their service, all very good. the rest of the traders I cannot comment on as I have not used them. |

hia mate.
i knew nothing about programming cards ...when mine went off about 2 years ago...i werent gonna pay someone £20 a time to do it...so i bought a infinity usb pheonix programmer and a couple of fun cards to mess about with...and started reading tutorials ....hardware wise thats all u need, a programmer and a card. honestly it's not that hard..can be abit daunting first but lots of people will guide u if u get stuck. i bought mine off a place called goldwafers...google it,it;s the first one that comes up. having a look now it's £39...but back then i think i paid about 50 for it. the software u use to prgramm the card comes with the pgrammer and the software u use to create ur different files u can get off the net anyway. and now when they go off it's a matter of just sitting and waiting for the fix..when it comes out ...a coupe of minutes and it's back on again. hope that helps. |
