Hi just bought a technomate 1500 super with a 1 meter dish, gonna be hopefully installing it just after crimbo. Would just like to know a few things, is there a particular position to point the dish (by the way i live in belfast).!!!!! It is a motorised dish or does this do it for you. You have probably answered this question several times, but new to this sort of thing, so be gentle. One more thing were the best place to by meter to allign it , thanks so much

You will have to align the dish to the most southerly facing satellite to your position which will probably be Thor @1w.
You will also need to make sure the pole the motor and dish is mounted on is 100 % vertical on all planes otherwise it isn't going to work ![]() Dependant on which protocol you use with your receiver (Either USALS or DISEqC 1.2) you will either have to set up the positions in the receiver manually or it will do it automatically. USALS requires you to input the co-ordinates of the dish location into the receiver and in theory it should find the satellites automatically. I have had limited success with USALS which is why i use DISEqC 1.2 as it allows for some degree of fine tuning as all the positions have to be manually added to the receiver ![]() Hope this helps ![]() ![]() Nano

Ideally you want to place the pole on a south facing wall. The motor then has to be aligned so that it faces exactly south, using your nearest due south satellite as a refence. Once setup, the motor can then rotate the dish either side of south to see satellites up to approx 70 degrees either way, at which point the satellites are below the horizon. Although 45 degrees either way is usually easier to achieve because of obstructions. Robbo ![]() |
