A CAM is a Conditional Access Module and they come in lots of varieties, from dedicated cams, like Conax, that are designed strictly for one type of encryption, to the newest multi cams, like The Diablo, and T-Rex that can emulate many encryption standards.
Most cams are designed to work with subscription cards, to allow the user to open the channels on the package they've subscribed to. The last two also can open certain packages without the need to patch your receiver or use a card. They are most useful to members with older, non-patchable receivers. You can find a lot more information if you do a search or try duwgati for some useful information. |
