Its that time of the year again! We had great fun doing this last year on the old SH forum so I hope a few folk will join in this year.
Plenty of notice is being given so folk can get set up in plenty of time. The idea is that by using the channels on the European satellites you see how many midnights we can find. (12 last year - can we do better this year?) First one of the day is 2pm uk time when Sky News goes over to Sydney for the Australian celebrations. We then work westwards through places like China, Vietnam, Thailand and Kazakhstan until we reach midnight in the UK (where I normally watch the celebrations in Portugal!) Everyone is welcome to join in. Ideally you need access to Hotbird & Astra 1 - although a couple of the channels are carried on Sky UK. I hope a few of the non satellite folk on the forum will drop in during the day as well to say hello and see what lunacy the satellite nuts can get up to in their spare time. I'll be posting pics on the thread and anyone else who has the capability is asked to post pics of what they find as well. Why do it Im often asked? Well no reason really. Its a bit of fun, its completely pointless, its a chance to see how other cultures celebrate their new year, and its a chance to have a few drinks as well (if any excuse was needed!) See you NYE if you are interested.

I had great fun chasing Midnight last year and that was on a Fortec Lifetime Classic. It'll be more fun on a Technomate 1000D Super and I found a link to many of the world's television stations, country by country - here it is:
List of television networks by country - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia All you need now is a world clock and away we go!!

I remember finding a feed from the Pacific island near the dateline for the first New Millennium celebration - can't remember which bird though, pretty sure it was AOR coming via the USA.
