Hi all - newbie to forum, satellite user but never had to ask a question before because it all worked.
We have been viewing FTA French Channels for approx 4 years until last week our Digital Satellite Receiver packed up. We were told that the cost of repair was more than a new box, so purchased Fortec Star Lifetime 2. Plugged it in, and managed to get France 2, France 3, France 5 and Arte (plus a few italien channels) but the auto scan did not give us TF1 nor M6, and we can't find any manual settings. So does anybody know how to solve my problem? Thank you |

TF1 & M6 are only available free in analogue on 5W. Your receiver is digital therefore they are not available!

Hi Mickb50,
Welcome to the forum. Did you have an analogue receiver before by any chance? It appears that those two channels that you are missing are only FTA in analogue. |

Analouesat will know, but I think you can still buy analogue receivers quite cheaply online if you were desperate for those channels. Or you might be able to pick up a second hand one from somewhere. You would need a TWIN LNB to run both receivers at once though.
Here is an analogue receiver on ebay for example:- Ebay 330197942340 Robbo |

A big thanks to all who have given advice.
Sorry, a few of questions. Our old box was a Strong (4255 I think), and this received both the analog and digital signals. Is there a box currently capable of receiving both? Robbo said we would have to have a twin LNB. If I was able to previously receive both analog and digital through the LNB on my satellite dish, does that mean it is already is a twin LNB? As I want to view both the analog and digital channels, If I purchase the analog box recommended, do I just connect the cable to whichever box I am using, or can I put a cable splitter in, and run both at the same time? Hmm, the same applies to the scart cable, I suppose. Sorry about the basic level of questions, but my knowledge of satellite TV and TVs in general is very poor. |

I believe that's why the guys were talking about twin output LNB's there, you would connect one box to one of the outputs and the other... etc.

You could unplug the wire every time, but what a pain that would be. You could also use an A-B switch, but the cost not much cheaper than a twin LNB, and also not as convenient. With a twin, you could record from one, watch another, basically all the flexibilty you wanted. |
