Hey, ive been reading around the forum quite a bit and i dont want to sound like a pain asking newbie questions, but it seems like it takes a while to get any replies on this forum. I know this website and others could be a bit dodgy (you watch what you say)
But with these 2 boxes yeah, if you could get both for the same price what would you get? I have just thought that eurovox has some way of updating itself (which i thought was only true of the dbox) And the n-t-l boxes i have had have lost channels dramatically (althought i guess this is due to the channells changign network/going digital). So what are the pros/cons? I cant see any channells being 'lost' from digital unless its due to the network or advanced technology, or ways of stopping you. But in my understanding the samsung boxes have streaming PPv so you can watch different movies etc., when you want. In my understanding eurovox does not have ppv - ive just read on here it does, but surely this is just via pain in the arse searching and seeing who has ordered a film in the area? (On a totally different side note is there anyway of picking up foreign channels such as star.sports or is it easiest to just stream them on ur p.c./All my questions are linked in, i have a post on the modem forum aswell and i am wondering 1) how to stream pc to tv and 2) if its possible to get my bband faster and 3) if this would be possible would i get clearer streams on my PC? I want to know so much lol, and to be honest the internet is largely long winded ****) |

With a cable box you can only get the channels that are on your local cable network, which does include some Asian Channels.
Given the choice, I would go for the D-Box2 first, then maybe the Dreambox600, then another linux box before the Eurovox or a Pace/Sammy - but that's just me ![]() I would say the Eurovox or the like are probably the easiest.

i see, well i speak to loads of people who say they have the samsung boxes and have all the VOD movies, so if they were the same price its obvious ud go for the VOD. I dunno about the dboxes etc. As it was just a guys mate who was selling the boxes in work. He said his mate also sold the vir0gin samsumg ones with all the channels, but hes not got back to me.
He told me the eurovoxes were £95 so i know the dboxes would be dearer.... |

D-Boxes are more expensive now (mine was £20 back in 2005). There are all sorts of Eurovox/starview type boxes around with little between them, just make sure you don't get a clone box.
I've never had a sammy, so I don't know what the current position is with regard to the VOD, you should get the PPV events (Boxing,Wrestling etc) on all boxes.

cheers, yeah im not bothered about the events... I didnt even watch hatton!!
The other two things i was thinking about was hookin my pc to tv up, so i could watch the football streams but the qualitys never good enought anyway. And the other big thing is recording. specially if i just have the one digi box in my room. My dad got a sony dvd recorder for his front room, although doesnt know much about this sort of thing, and he hasn't tuned it into his freeview box, he can just record channels 1-5. Im sure its possible to hook up a dvd recorder to record the cable channels/freeview then? (Youve been great btw!) |

Just connect the DVD recorder to the cable/freeview box with a scart and you can record - you should be able the analogue cable too.
