Wahoo! I received my satellite set up this morning. 80cm dish, diseqc motor, technomate 5400.
Could anyone tell me the best size bolts to use to fix the mount to a brick wall? It is an l shaped mount. I am still toying with the idea of using a t and k mount instead and would welcome any views on whether or not to bother. Many thanks. |

Yep, definitely go for the T&K's, much stronger than the 'L' type brackets
![]() I used 10mm HKD anchors when mine was wall mounted, I wouldn't go any smaller than 8mm whatever type of fixing you use ![]() Kev

I backup Mship. Definitely go for the T&K brackets. They are adjustable so that you can get the dish just right. Also make sure you fix into the bricks and not into the motar.
If you use the L bracket to start, you will find it needs adjusting before long and it will usually happen when the weather is not nice.

Hope you all had a merry Xmas. I am going to put the dish up tomorrow so need to decide what to use.
I am worried about drilling 14mm holes in the wall to use 10mm thread anchors. thats big holes in the side of the house! Given I am using tk brackets would 8mm bolts with rawlplugs not suffice? many thanks for the help. |

No No No!
Rawlplugs can pull out of the wall in storm conditions. This is generally A Bad Thing! (Especially if your car is under the dish!) Do it properly and get expanding wall anchor bolts If you are worried about holes then if you take the dish down slap some cement into the holes.

i'm using 7cm long 10mm diameter sleeve anchor bolts on my 90cm dish and its rock solid even as its on 24inch t&k brackets so quite abit of leverage on it by the wind
i dont think you need 14mm ones |

Because they sell probably. They other problem with rawlplugs is that they can expamd too much when you crank the pressure up on them and they can shatter the brickwork.
You want to see some aerial & dish installation horror stories? Have a look here Aerial Issues | Rogues' Gallery Look at pic 75 & 151 with great care then tell me rawl plugs are a good idea!
