hello chris i have heard that these type of things happen all of the time as it happened to me once when i was on my pc does it have anything written on the blue screen or is it just a blank blue screen? just need to ask these questions to try and understand what has happened
the thing that could be happening is wheather you have installed something like a driver on the computer and the driver might have gone wrong and crashed your pc or it also could be that there is a virus on your pc which is causing the pc to crash for example there are two types of viruses on pc's and they are the worm virus and the trojan horse virus which i have had on my pc in the past but got rid of them using Avg or spybot which got rid of the viruses and my pc was working again so it could be a virus or the last type of thing to cause pc to go blue screen could be missing either some files off computer or some type of driver missing which makes the pc crash
trying to help as much as i can to solve your problem if you could answer the questions that i will help you solve your problem and try to get it sorted hope this helps

I'm assuming you've tried a clean Windows install if you've tried a new hard drive. If so, you may have a problem with your RAM. Check that the sticks are seated properly. If you're sure that they are, try using only one stick at a time in each slot. That should help to identify or eliminate a memory problem.

Can you please provide more details of your computer, and Operating System.
The first thing I always advise is to boot up in safe mode, this is to help test if it is a physical problem or a driver problem.
On start up keep pressing the F8 key, this should bring up an option screen, choose Safe Mode.
Once it has booted go into the display settings and turn off Screensaver and set the power settings to always on, then leave it running, if the computer does not shut down there is a good chance that the problem lies with a driver, usually the graphics card driver.
Also run any anti virus and spyware programmes you have loaded.
