Default anyone from US??

do the receivers and dishes work the same way in the US anyone set up a satellite in the us I could really use some guidance

They work on a similar principle but there are differences.

The first main difference is the television format. In the US they use NTSC where in the UK we use PAL I

Secondly there are two formats in the US. DSS & DVB. (DVB -like here in the UK)

DVB is used by the likes of Dish TV and DSS is used by DirecTV. Both formats are incompatible with each other

The last major difference is that all Ku band transmissions in europe are transmitted with either Horizontal or Vertical polarisation, where as in the US even though Horizontal or Vertical polarisation is used they also use Left and Right handed Circular polarisation (Like a corkscrew)

The only thing that could be really interchangable would be the dish itself (Not including the lnb)

hmm what if i send my buddy a dvb card to europe from usa it wont work? or should work, twinhan 1020A is on my mind

No point - we cant see the Yank signals over here due to the curvature of the earth.

If friend wants to watch American tv then buy a slingbox and placeshift the channels via broadband.

I think unless I'm looking at lyng sat wrong, that some c band can be seen but don't quote me on that.

I live on the east coast of north america and can get sat from England.Cant remember what sat it was but signal strength was very low.
