I brought myself another LNB (from Conrad in Germany) and set it all back up, I now have strong signal strength, when I scan the satellites instead of the transponder it now finds 72 instead of the 65 it scanned before, and the clock is back BUT I get "No Valid Signal" when I go through the channel list and I am at a loss what this means!
I have repositioned the dish, moved the azimuth etc but get the same. I am certain I am pointing at Astra 19.2 as I lose the signal strength if I go to Hotbird or any of the other 4 satellites I can choose from. Do you think I have fried the receiver as well? Is there anyway I can check it to see if its "knackered" Any help would be appreciated (again!) ANT |

The only way to check it, if you have not got any specialist test equipment is to try your box on someone else's dish.
But by the sounds of it, you are simply not aligned to the correct satellite. The satellite you are pointing to may not be on your list. When you say, you have good signal strength, are you getting good signal quality also? I think a couple of screen shots would be very helpful here. |

Thx for the reply robbo71.
I can't check the receiver with a neighbour as they all seem to have digital TV which they pay for (not like the UK where we have Freeview) I have included a few pictures, the first being the "Country" screen. Sweden is'nt on the list so I tend to pick either Germany or Poland as they are closest: ![]() I have tried other countries but tend to get the same readings etc. The second is the Satellites I have to choose from: ![]() As you can see the list is very limited!! The third is when I am connected to Poland and Astra 19.2. As you can see I am getting good readings: ![]() The C/N reading at the bottom of the picture tends to stay around the 12-13dB, and the QPSK and FEC (I have no idea what they are) tend to stay green. The fourth and last (you will be glad to hear!) is from channel 1, its a Polish channel that seems to be encrypted (I get the same with channel 2, that too is a Polish channel) All the other channels say "No Valid Signal" ![]() I have tried other countries as I say but get the same, although when I choose Switzerland it finds what seems to be a radio channel (but I can't listen to it or any others) ![]() I am really baffled as what to do now, I have tried moving the dish slightly, inputted frequencies manually, manually changed the "Search Mode" to Satellite and searched for new channels, but all to no avail. Hi everyone.
Well I haven't had much time to sort this out lately so I am still watching Swedish TV when I get the time Anyway I was recently home in the UK and my son in law gave me a Pace DS440N receiver. Can I use this to watch channels on Astra 19.2? BBC World and CNN would be ok for the time being, my better half is German so she can watch her German TV when shes here! I do intend to use it for the English channels on Astra2 eventually but I think I need a bigger dish (someone said at least a 1.2m dish)Thanks for any help/advice Anthony Last edited by Ant : 13-04-08 at 07:32 AM. |

Hi again,
The Pace receiver you mention is a Sky Digibox, designed and programmed specifically for operation for 28E, and thus is not really suitable for other satellites. Although it would work to a very limited extent, thats if Sky haven't nobbled it even further using OTA updates. Robbo ![]()
