Default Another one requiring help with cams & cards!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL BY THE WAY.

Right, now that I finally got my signal, picking up satellites galore I have found that a huge number of the channels on the sats I am using have the little '$' after it, which after looking up in the user manual of my Fortec Star Passion receiver means 'scrambled channel'.

OK, now that I am getting the hang of the workings of my receiver I am ready to step up a notch. CAMS & CARDS!!!!!!!

I am mainly going to be using Hotbird 13.0E, Astra 19.2E and Sirius 5.0E and would like you to recommend a couple of suitable CAMS & Subscription cards for such things like MOVIES, ENTERTAINMENT and the odd PREMIERSHIP football match.

My Passion receiver has 2 x CI slots for CAMS

Don't want to pay way over the odds as I already pay £45 a month to S*y, which is going to be phased out (hence my purchase of this little beauty).

One last thing. Can my F S Passion receiver be patched?

Cheers!

The best Cam at the moment is the Diablo, but you will need a Cas programmer to program it.
A Cas 3+ will program both cams, and cards, so is not a bad investment.
You should be able to get both Cas 3 and Diablo light for around £90.
As for a subscription I would suggest you consider DigitAlb, 16E, for a reasonable price you will get a lot of Premiere football and some films, depending on which subscription package you choose..
Try lyngsat.com, click on Packages, Europe link, and then DigitAlb for a full list of their channels.

OK, knowing nothing about cams & cards etc, as I do, I was looking at this:

Diablo Light CAM COMES LOADED READY TO USE AUTO UPDATE on eBay, also Digital Satellite Cards, Cards, Satellite Cable Freeview, Consumer Electronics (end time 02-Jan-08 09:19:51 GMT)

If I bought this Diablo would it unlock all those channels he has listed without the need for a card?

Just pop the thing into my machine and watch???

Is it a good deal or not?

Ta!

Hi,

I can tell you one thing that I do know, and that is that it will not open all those channels listed. It won't do D+, as at the moment it can only be opened by subscribing officially. There may be other mistakes on that list too.

Considering that you are going to need a CAS3 programmer as well, I suggest you shop around a little, before paying £60 just for the CAM.

That list is an old list, but the cam does work without a card, but it is well over priced as you can pick a new one up for around £50, and there were some good deals for a Cas 3 and Diablo a few months ago.
Digital + is now using Nagravision 3 encryption and so is not available without a valid subscription.
The Diablo Cam is currently opening exactly the same as most patched receivers, which can be bought for £60 and upwards, depending on your needs, so it's a tough choice for what you spend your money on.

Why - its a perfectly accurate answer to the question

Theres no point suggesting c/s with that receiver - it doesnt support it afaik, and to be honest it only confuses the issue with beginners to the hobby.
